LEGO Haul – Walkinstown Wonders & Wizardry

walkinstown haul

Wednesday’s LEGO adventure took us west to Walkinstown, where Darren, Luke, and Rose had arranged to pick up what was billed as “a box of mixed LEGO sets.” But what we found when we opened that box was something bordering on magical.

For €130, we picked up what can only be described as a treasure chest of bricks. The remnants of two legendary sets immediately caught our eyes, the unmistakable cockpit and side panels of the Millennium Falcon, and peeking just beside it, the tender and locomotive of the Hogwarts Express. As we dug deeper, Rose let out a gasp and pulled out not one, not two, but five instruction manuals for Harry Potter sets, each of them well-loved and still intact.

And then there were the mini-figures, wands, cloaks, stormtrooper helmets, wizard hats, and droid parts mingled together in a glorious jumble of characters from across the galaxy and magical realms. Luke gleefully assembled what he swore was a battle between Hagrid and Darth Vader before we’d even gotten the box into the car.

There’s always a strange feeling when a haul is this good, something between delight and guilt. €130 felt like too little for the volume and quality we brought home. But with the seller happy to see it go to another generation of builders, and with every brick finding new purpose in Redmond’s Forge LEGO City and Museum, we drove home feeling grateful (and a bit stunned) at our good fortune.

This haul brings our Harry Potter collection to new heights, the number of sets has quietly grown into one of the most significant themes in our collection. It’s clear that the Wizarding World is becoming a major fixture at Redmond’s Forge, and this haul may have just tipped the balance.

Time to make space in the museum… and perhaps a dedicated Diagon Alley expansion in the LEGO City?

Stay tuned for what we discover as we sort through this Walkinstown wonder haul. Expect reviews, rebuilds, and magical minifig moments ahead.
