What began as a simple Monday evening of pickups spiralled quickly into the most intense LEGO Haul run the Redmond clan has ever undertaken in 3 hours. Ten separate stops. Dozens of sets. A few mysteries. One Happy Meal pit stop. And memories that will be hard to beat.
From Cabinteely to Bettystown, Rathgar to Castleknock, this was a collector’s dream, a LEGO marathon across Dublin (and beyond), all fueled by the thrill of the find. Here’s the breakdown of this record-setting day.
🚗 1. Cabinteely – Delivering the City Goods
🧱 LEGO City 60254 – Race Boat Transporter
📘 Instructions included, scanned and logged on Brickset.
✔️ A quick and clean pickup, the evening starts strong.
🥷 2. Ringsend – Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Pickup
🧱 70617 Ninjago – Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon
This mighty temple is a grail set for Ninjago fans. Boxed, complete, and in brilliant condition — the ninjas ride with us now.
⚖️ 3. Rathfarnham – The Mystery Kilo Drop
🧱 2KGs of loose LEGO
Classic mystery kilo-bag pickup from our usual supplier. Will it be Star Wars clones or just rogue wheels and mismatched torsos? Time (and sorting) will tell.
✨ 4. Ballycullen – Star Wars Supermarket Showdown
📍 Lidl Parking Lot
💰 Total Paid: €250
Here’s where it got wild. A full-on Star Wars fleet came along and was loaded into the boot of our car.
- 75258 Anakin’s Podracer – €40
- 75281 Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter – €25
- TIE Fighter – €30
- 75168 Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter – €15
- 75302 Imperial Shuttle – €55 (missing 1 minifig)
- 75316 Mandalorian Starfighter – €50 (missing 1 minifig)
- 75328 Mandalorian Helmet (Display Set) – €30
- 75372 Clone Battle Pack – €15
- Bonus: Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber (non-LEGO) – €15 – labelled Staw Wars.
An epic tradeoff in a car park. Probably looked like a smuggler’s deal to the untrained eye.
🏰 5. Castleknock – Harry Potter Hits & LEGO City Finds
💰 €110 Total (Breakdown: 65, 40, 5)
- 5 LEGO City sets
- 1 LEGO Star Wars set
- 75947 Buckbeak’s Rescue
- 75953 Whomping Willow
- 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall
With this stop, our Harry Potter section grows stronger. The Great Hall alone is a set we’ve been hunting for, and the owner had created his own MOC with these 3 LEGO sets combined together into a diorama.
🏴☠️ 6. Coolock – BoI’s Pirate Surprise
📍 7pm Pickup
🧱 31109 LEGO Creator Pirate Ship
It’s a beautiful, full-sailed model. Perhaps destined for Redmond’s Forge Sea Diorama?
🍟 Bonus Stop – McDonald’s Happy Meals (x3)
Because even LEGO warriors need fuel. One handburger, two nuggets, three tiny squishable toys, and a fruit juice later — spirits (and blood sugar) were restored. Onwards.
📦 7. Baldoyle – The Viburnum Mystery Box
🧱 Large box of assorted LEGO
No set list. Just a promise of bricks. These always hide forgotten treasures — or at the very least, bricks for MOCs.
🧪 8. Bettystown – Potions for a Price
🧱 76383 Hogwarts Moment: Potions Class
One of the pop-up book-style classrooms. Neat and tidy. Will make a fine addition to our modular Hogwarts display.
🛡️ 9. Rialto – Civil War in the Car Boot
🧱 76314 LEGO Marvel – Avengers: Civil War Set
A huge Marvel structure with the Cap, Iron Man, Gi-Ant Man, and more. This might make an addition as a modular to our LEGO City Airport scene. Worth the price for the figs alone.
🧤 10. Rathgar – The Gauntlet is Ours
🧱 76191 LEGO Marvel – Infinity Gauntlet
Six Infinity Stones. One snapping gauntlet. And now, proudly part of our Marvel display shelf. Complete and in display condition.
