The Dalkey BrickHeadz Bonanza: 45 Faces, €200, and a Whole Lot of Character!

dalkey haul

On a drizzly afternoon (it ceased to be drizzle and turned into an epic flood – I saw Noah in Dalkey harbour saying I told you so!), Redmond’s Forge struck gold in Dalkey. €200 for an incredible haul of 45 LEGO BrickHeadz, most in excellent condition, and 42 with original manuals intact. This wasn’t just a LEGO deal; it was a collection-defining moment.

We squeezed into the car, spirits high, as we packed away box after box filled with these stylised pop-culture icons. From seasonal cheer to superheroes, Hogwarts to Hawkins, this was a who’s who of LEGO BrickHeadz brilliance. 20 of which I didn’t already have from 143 LEGO Brick Headz already in the Forge’s Museum.

🔎 The Haul Highlights

Here’s a breakdown of the full collection, with a few extra insights on where they might best fit in our future plans; the Forge’s LEGO Museum or the Redmond’s Forge Resale Shop:

🎄 Seasonal & Chinese New Year

  • Mr. & Mrs. Claus (40273, 40274) – perfect for a festive corner in the Museum
  • Chick, Reindeer, Elf, Elfie (40350, 40353) – adorable additions for a holiday display
  • Dragon Dance Guy (40354) & Year of the Ox (40417) – ideal for a cultural celebration exhibit

🎓 Iconic Cultural Figures

  • Lady Liberty (40367) – great for a “World Wonders” theme

🎬 TV, Film & Pop Culture

  • Gru, Stuart, Otto (40420) – crowd-pleasers for kids, fit for Museum
  • Frankenstein (40422) – classic Halloween display potential
  • Stranger Things: Demogorgon & Eleven (40549) – cult classics, straight to the Museum
  • Toy Story: Woody & Bo Peep (40553) – nostalgic favourites for family display

🧙‍♂️ Harry Potter Universe

  • Quad Pack: Harry, Hermione, Ron, Hagrid (40495) – these will shine in the LEGO Wizarding World wing
  • Hermione (41616) – duplicate for resale or custom diorama builds

🦸‍♂️ DC & Marvel Heroes

  • DC (Series 1 & 2): Batgirl, Robin, Joker, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman
  • Marvel: Iron Man, Captain America, Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket
    – Superhero fans rejoice; these will rotate through our Museum or form part of a comic book shop scene in a LEGO display in the LEGO City – think Gargoyles.

🚀 Star Wars Galaxy

  • Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke, Yoda, Leia, Grogu, The Mandalorian
    – Just wow. An entire display shelf dedicated to a galaxy far, far away. Two of these (Kylo Ren and Leia) were missing manuals, but the figures themselves are excellent and I had all these aready in the Brick Headz display in the Museum

🤪 Wildcard Additions

  • Homer & Krusty (41632) – rare and full of charm, bound for the Museum comedy corner

📊 Value & Verdict

  • Cost: €200
  • Total Figures: 45
  • With Manuals: 42
  • Retail Value (Original): Estimated at €500+
  • Museum Worthiness: The 20 Bick Headz I didn’t have, plus the Year of the Ox
  • Best for Resale: The 25 duplicates – Simpsons, DC heroes, Star Wars – could fetch €6–€8 each

🧱 What’s Next?

With these all catalogued, each BrickHead officially in Redmond’s Forge records, the non-duplicates will head to Brick Headz display in the LEGO Museum; some will enter a rotating display at our LEGO City’s Pop Culture Quarter. The duplicates and spares? Keep an eye on our resale cabinet. You might spot one of these legends waiting for their next home.

🧩 Strategic Recommendations

CategoryRecommendation
Museum DisplayReserve iconic/pop-culture & seasonal sets like wizardry, Star Wars, Simpsons, and Stranger Things as primary exhibits.
Seasonal RotationUse Turkey, Mr Claus, Mrs Claus, Bee, Bunny, Witch, Ghost, Elf trio for holiday-centric Museum displays.
Resale CabinetMove duplicates and mass-collectible brick heads—Batman, Marvel heroes, Springfield duo, Hermione duplicate—over time. High-demand sets like Hermione might fetch €25–40 each sealed.
LEGO City Pop‑UpUse Minions, Toy Story, Marvel to animate customer-facing scenes with broad appeal.

🎯 Next Steps

  1. Add all sets in the Forge register; include manuals and condition check.
  2. Assign primary allocation: Museum, City, or Resale label.
  3. Plan seasonal rotations: curate themed exhibits around holidays/cultural events.
  4. Price duplicates based on current market trends—e.g., Hermione ~ (€35–50 sealed)
  5. Prioritise display-quality pieces for photo op spots; Stranger Things, Grogu/Mando, Simpsons duo.

Thanks, Dalkey. This haul was a BrickHeadz dream. And at €200, an absolute steal. Noah, I hope you got home safe.
