1,000+ LEGO Sets at Redmond’s Forge – A Milestone in Bricks!

1000 lego sets

This summer, something quietly momentous happened at Redmond’s Forge; the LEGO City and the LEGO Museum combined, now include over 1,000 individual LEGO sets, with every brick, mini-figure, and instruction manual officially catalogued on Brickset.com!

It’s a number that crept up on us quietly, through years of passion, play, and collecting. From early DUPLO trains to towering LEGO Icons and intricate Star Wars builds, the collection now spans 933 unique sets, with another 496 duplicate or variant versions. That puts our total LEGO set count at 1,009, and yes, we double-count those duplicates proudly, because each one plays a role in the ever-growing world we’re building. However the number of City sets showing does seem low – so we could have even more than 1,009 and I will check this tomorrow.

Our current Brickset rank? 5,646th globally – not bad, considering there are over 356,500 users on the platform!

The heart of our collection is the ever-evolving LEGO City, where fire engines roar, trams glide by, and the modular buildings form the bustling core of Redmond’s Forge. Just as important is the Museum, a curated archive of LEGO history and creativity that continues to grow in breadth and diversity.
Between the LEGO City builds, the Museum archive, and the themed sub-collections that spill into every room, we’ve now catalogued:

  • 933 unique sets out of 14,764 total LEGO sets tracked across themes
  • 279,187 pieces owned
  • Collection value: €29,735 (based on second hand valuations)
  • Global Brickset Rank: #5,646 – not bad, considering there are over 175,000 users on the platform!

We’re not in it for the numbers… but they are fun to crunch!

📊 Making Sense of the Data: What We Track

Here’s how we break it down in the collection spreadsheet, using Brickset’s detailed dataset:

ColumnMeaning
ThemeThe LEGO product line (e.g. Star Wars, City, Ninjago)
TotalTotal number of sets released in that theme
OwnedHow many of those sets we own
Not OwnedSets still missing from the collection
WantedSets marked as “wanted” on Brickset
% OwnedShare of the theme we own
%That theme’s share of our overall collection
PiecesNumber of bricks we own from that theme
Value (€)Estimated value of the owned sets in euros

🏆 Top Themes at the Forge

A few highlights stand out when we look at both the size and weight (in bricks and euros!) of the collection:

🔫 Star Wars

  • Total Sets: 1,013
  • Owned: 412 sets
  • Pieces: 180,993
  • Value: €19,914
  • % of Collection: 44.2%
This is by far the heaviest hitter, a galactic sprawl of UCS models, battle packs, and classic ships.

🏙️ City

  • Total Sets: 955
  • Owned: 69 sets (what is clear is that not all of my LEGO City sets are logged)
  • Pieces: 16,512
  • Value: €1,884
  • % Owned in Theme: 7%
Every street, fire station, and tram in Luke’s LEGO City lives here.

💥 BrickHeadz

  • Total Sets: 178
  • Owned: 101 sets
  • % Owned in Theme: 56%
  • Pieces: 20,001
  • Value: €1,679
One of the most complete collections in the Forge — and still growing.

🧱 Classic

  • Owned: 13 sets
  • Pieces: 5,838
  • Value: €394
These are the building blocks of everything else.

🧙 Harry Potter

  • Owned: 9 sets (I think we now have more than this)
  • Pieces: 3,608
  • Value: €307
Built during Harry Potter weekends with the kids — and always magical.

🚗 Speed Champions

  • Owned: 16 sets (Again, I think I have more than this)
  • Pieces: 4,822
  • Value: €399
Luke and Darren’s shared passion for these slick micro-scale racers.

🧱 How Many Sets Are Too Many?

Some say you know you’re a serious LEGO collector when you’re out of shelf space. At Redmond’s Forge, we knew we’d crossed the line when our classic baseplates became a spreadsheet category and we started color-coding our instruction manuals.

📱 LEGO Insiders: A Missed Opportunity?

Interestingly, only 20 of our sets are registered with LEGO Insiders via the manual scan or LEGO Builder app. That’s something I need to work on, not just for bragging rights, but for the 20 Insiders points per scanned manual, which quickly add up. With nearly 1,000 manuals in the house (and probably another hundred in the attic), it’s time to start scanning for studs!

This isn’t just about rewards — it’s about digitizing the journey. Each set we’ve built around the kitchen table or added to the Museum shelf is part of our story. I’m planning to work backward and scan in as many manuals as I can, starting with our most nostalgic builds.

🧱 The Big Picture

Across 41+ themes, we’ve now got:

  • Star Wars supremacy (412 sets)
  • A surprisingly strong Minecraft showing (25 sets, €718 in value)
  • Book and Gear categories rounding out the display and experience
  • A healthy collection of Friends (17 sets), Technic (10 sets), Creator (25), and Marvel (19)

Some themes like Botanicals, Gabby’s Dollhouse, and Brick Sketches are just getting started — but every new release is a chance to build together and dream big.

🚀 Where We Go From Here

Redmond’s Forge isn’t just about collecting, it’s about curating. Every LEGO box tells a story, whether it’s a 7-year wait to open the Daily Bugle, or a family Saturday spent building Attack on the Burrow. As we pass 1,000 sets, we’re already looking ahead: to new space launches, diorama expansions, and mini-figure accessories that bring even more character to our LEGO world.

Here’s to the next thousand sets, brick by brick.
