After months of scouting, bidding, dreaming, and second-guessing every “what if,” it finally happened.
Today, we got the keys. 🔑
Redmond’s Forge officially has a home, a real, physical home, right here in Arklow, County Wicklow.
This afternoon, I got the call from, and met, the estate agent with Luke and Rose by my side. The contracts were signed, the money transferred, and then, in a moment that felt both surreal and grounding, the keys landed in my hand. The clang of metal never sounded so good.
As the roller door lifted for the first time, sunlight streamed across the concrete floor, a blank canvas ready to become Ireland’s first LEGO Museum and Creative Workshop. Twelve months ago, this was just an idea scribbled in a notebook. Now it’s brick-by-brick reality.
The Vision
This space will become Redmond’s Forge HQ, part museum, part studio, part creative playground. It’ll house:
- Our growing LEGO Museum, showcasing classic sets, MOCs, and collector displays of Themes from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Ninjago, Minecraft, and on and on
- The LEGO City and LEGO Friends Heartlake City of Redmond’s Forge, where modulars meet imagination
- Dedicated zones for filming, reviewing, and restoring sets
- Family build tables and exhibition areas for visitors down the line.
- An AI and tech collaboration area.
But first, the real work begins.
The Kit-Out Begins
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be:
- Upgrading the electrical system to support display lighting
- Installing new LED lighting for crystal-clear visuals during filming
- Building modular shelving and custom plinths for museum displays
- Bringing in tables, crates, and, of course, thousands upon thousands of LEGO bricks
It’s going to be a creative construction site for a while, but that’s part of the story. Every stud, every socket, every switch brings us closer to opening our doors to the public, and we’ll film the progress as we go.
A Family Moment
Watching Luke and Rose run across the warehouse floor, hearing their laughter echo in the empty space, that’s when it hit me: this is where so many memories will be made. Builds, reviews, hauls, late-night sorting sessions, all from here, at Redmond’s Forge, Arklow.
