Today was one of those magic family days that feel like three in one; packed with laughs, adventures, and of course… LEGO.
It all started with a trip to Dundrum Cinema where Darren, Jill, Luke, and Rose headed out to see Peppa Pig and little Evie. Giggles echoed through the theatre, popcorn was shared, and little Rose’s eyes lit up with every “oink” on screen, while Luke danced and sung along.
After that? Playground time. And by playground time, I mean an eternity. Luke ran circuits like he was training for the next LEGO City Olympics. Rose ruled the slides. Jill found the shops and then a bench. Darren found a tea.
Just when we thought the day couldn’t be more perfect, we added a McDonald’s Happy Meal stop – complete with Pokémon cards that immediately became hot trading commodities between the back seats.
But the real win came after: a spontaneous trip to Rathfarnham, where we picked up the best value LEGO haul we’ve ever scored. For just €35, we got:
- A huge clear storage box filled with loads of LEGO Friends pieces
- Two instruction manuals (gently loved)
- Enough bricks to expand Rose’s imagination tenfold and give Luke new inspiration for some creations
The whole thing felt like uncovering buried treasure.
On the way home, little Rose nodded off, exhausted from the joy of it all, cradled in the hum of the car and dreams of Heartlake City. Luke, meanwhile, couldn’t stop planning tomorrow’s builds.
Tomorrow morning, this wonderful new haul will get its first round of play. And then? It’ll be sorted and catalogued into the LEGO Friends section of our growing LEGO Village at the Forge in Wicklow.
Every brick has a story, and this batch has one filled with cinema fun, playground laughter, and second-hand gold.
