It felt like déjà vu the moment I stepped into the room.
Just like when I first picked up that glorious 2007 UCS Millennium Falcon from this house last week, today brought the excitement of discovering more Star Wars treasures in Tallaght. We were invited back to see and purchase more. Myself, Luke, and Rose arrived right on time, lunchtime, armed not with sandwiches, but to collect six immense boxes, two huge brick‑filled bags, and a spread of already-built models: the 10198 Tantive IV, the 6211 Star Destroyer, and the 10221 Super Star Destroyer. You could say my Lego-loving heart nearly exploded.
Imagine the scene: the stack of storage boxes ready to be opened, the bags threatening to spill bricks everywhere, and the Star Wars vessels majestically rising like ships on display. After a quick catch-up with this seller, his parents, 1 year old son, and some tea, the real business began: packaging up our new collection for the journey home.
I paid €650 for the Super Star Destroyer and €650 for everything else – it was the everything else that other buyers overlooked and where immense value for Redmond’s Forge lay. This was an epic bundle that included not only the Star Wars sets, I’ll break down below (think mid 2000’s B‑Wing, Jabba’s Sail Barge – it was the sails I spotted in the Facebook Marketplace advertised big amount of LEGO, Clone Turbo Tank, and more), but also Indiana Jones sets (7622, 7627), Mars Mission (7690, 7695), and the full Exo-Force line (7707 through 8108), plus some mid 2000 Mega Bloks Dragons sets. It was a haul of epic proportions.
Now, as I stare at the bags and boxes of bricks while I’m back at the kitchen table writing this blog post, not really believing my eyes and my luck, and recollect on the afternoon, it’s time to get into the details, what is each of those Star Wars sets worth today? Let’s dive into the numbers.

- The Forge’s Investment: $1,410 / €1,300
- Current Value: $7,300-9,400 / €6,750-8,650
- The Clone Turbo Tank (7261), MTT (7662), and Super Star Destroyer (10221) are the most valuable pieces.
- The UCS sets (10174, 10178, 10221) command premium prices.
- The missing instructions on the Tantive IV (10198) reduces its value by approximately 30-40% – which is why picking up and retaining instructions is important – as is flat-packing boxes (the boxes were not retainedd in this instance – thankfully bar the Tantive IV the instructions were kept).
Value to the Forge
To reveal this haul’s true value means dismantling this treasure trove of LEGO sets in storage boxes and bags, a Herculean organizational challenge that would make even the most methodical collector pause. With over 25 sets spanning multiple themes and release years, we’re looking at potentially 15,000+ individual pieces that need to be carefully cleaned (the washing machine will be in use for days), then sorted, identified, and reunited with their proper sets. The task becomes exponentially more complex when dealing with common elements that appear across multiple sets – those ubiquitous gray and black Technic beams, standard bricks, and connecting pieces that could belong to the Clone Turbo Tank, the AT-AT, or any number of the Exo-Force mechs. Each piece will need to be cross-referenced against instruction booklets (which thankfully we have for most sets), with particular attention paid to specialized elements, minifigures, and unique printed pieces that can serve as identifying anchors for each collection. The methodical approach of creating a dedicated workspace, sorting first by colour and size, then by set-specific elements, before finally bagging each complete set with its instruction manual, while awaiting to built next month or beyond, will be time-consuming but ultimately rewarding. This painstaking process of archaeological reconstruction will likely take dozens of hours spread across weeks, but the satisfaction of having each one of these valuable sets properly organized and ready for building will make the effort worthwhile – especially knowing that some of these sets, like the Clone Turbo Tank and Trade Federation MTT, contain thousands of pieces that would be nearly impossible to replace if lost in the jumbled mass.
This turned out to be a very valuable haul which has appreciated excellently over the years, and now will be heading to Redmond’s Forge to be displayed and appreciated as it should be in this museum setting!
