The Killiney Theme Park Haul: A Ride Worth Taking!

It began with a whisper, an anonymous tip about two LEGO Creator icons sitting quietly in Killiney, reduced and ready for a new home. A quick check confirmed it: LEGO Creator 10247 Ferris Wheel and LEGO Creator 10261 Roller Coaster, both immaculate, both gleaming with potential, and both discounted from €400 to €360. A deal too good to ignore.

So, like any good roller coaster, this journey had its ups, downs, and loop-de-loops, only this time, it was all LEGO.

🎠 Part 1: The Big Ticket Rides

By the time we reached the house, the sun was setting behind the Wicklow Mountains, casting that golden-hour glow over our mission. The Ferris Wheel and Roller Coaster were as described, complete, well-loved, and majestic in their potential for our display space at Redmond’s Forge.

What we didn’t expect was what came next.

🎁 Part 2: “Do You Want the Rest?”

As we carefully loaded the big sets into the boot of the X-Trail, the seller casually asked, “Would you like the rest of my LEGO too? Some planes, base plates, mini-figures, Harry Potter, I’ll do it all for €60.”

We glanced at each other, Darren & Luke, and then at the stack of crates and instructions behind him and his family. Mini-figures peeking out (beautiful Star Wars Mini-figures. Familiar LEGO City planes and skylines, Harry Potter owls, Creator alt-builds, and a LEGO Movie mech waving from the shadows.

It was worth more, much more. So we did what any LEGO-loving family would do: we offered €80. Fair’s fair, especially when you’re building a community-focused LEGO museum where every brick tells a story.

🧱 Part 3: What We Got

Here’s what the extra €80 unlocked, a mixed haul packed with playable nostalgia, MOCs waiting to happen, and just enough magic to call it a mini-theme park haul:

🤹‍♂️ A Family Affair

This haul wasn’t just about grabbing a great deal. It was about the story, about a son, his father, his mother, and his sister, passing on the bricks his family had outgrown to a new generation of builders. And for us, it’s about using those bricks to build new memories. Luke immediately gravitated toward the Ferris Whell entranced with making it turn, Rose picked out the roller-coaster, declaring it “the best LEGO set ever.”

And as for Darren? Let’s just say the Ferris Wheel and Roller Coaster will be making their way onto the plinths at Redmond’s Forge for a full theme park diorama, Hogsmeade Station on one side, the LEGO City Airport nearby, and now, a mini LEGOland amusement park centre-piece in the making.

🎢 Final Thoughts

Deals like this don’t come around often, not just for the value, but for the joy and generosity that came with it. The Killiney Theme Park Haul will go down as one of the most heartwarming (and action-packed) pickups of the summer.

So, the next time you get a tip on a LEGO set or two, go. Because you never know when that Ferris Wheel will turn into a whole new world of bricks.
