This weekend’s adventure started like many before – with the words “There’s more LEGO to collect!” echoing through the house. Darren, Luke, and Rose were on a mission, fuelled by excitement and the scent of possibility… this time bound for Dunshaughlin.
The destination: a second-hand LEGO haul rumoured to be rich in Minecraft treasures. But the road had other ideas. A traffic jam on the M50 threatened to slow the momentum, so Darren made a swift decision – off the motorway and onto the winding country roads of Meath. Rolling hills, narrow lanes, and curious cows greeted us on the detour, with Rose giggling in the back seat and Luke peering ahead with anticipation.
And it was worth it.
What awaited in Dunshaughlin was a glorious bounty of bricks: Minecraft, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and even Dreamzzz sets, a much-needed balance to the LEGO Friends-heavy hauls of the previous week. Luke’s face lit up as he discovered a mighty black LEGO dragon, which immediately became his co-pilot for the journey home. He held it tight, animating its wings and growls while Rose sang songs beside him, already imagining where the new bricks would fit into the ever-growing LEGO Village at the Forge.
To top it off, it was pizza night – a family tradition – so we swung by to collect our feast before heading home, the car now packed with boxes of LEGO and the comforting smell of garlic bread.
We’ve still to do three more LEGO collections this weekend (we’re trying to pace ourselves), the Forge in Wicklow is bursting at the seams. We might just fill it completely. And honestly… that sounds like a dream come true.
Next stop: LEGO glory.
